Much of the Midlands sits on dense red clay that absorbs water slowly. When a summer thunderstorm dumps a lot of rain in a short time, the water has nowhere to go, so it pools in low spots or runs toward your house. Grading, catch basins, and French drains give that water a planned path off your property.

Water sitting against a foundation is worth fixing early. Depending on what we find, we may regrade the soil so it slopes away from the house, extend your downspouts so roof runoff discharges well clear of the foundation, or install a French drain or catch basin to collect and redirect the water.

Installing a French drain does mean trenching, but that’s where our hardscaping background comes in. We can finish the area with patios, retaining walls, walkways, or a dry creek bed, so the fix looks like a planned part of your landscape instead of a scar.
